I have just started to use Keyword Discovery and overall, I like it. Though I have been a little frusterated with the user interface (it seems a bit more complex than some of the others).

I think the depth of words you get will depend on your industry and how specific your are going. Keyword Discovery does really well for some industries (tech related terms), but does not do so well on more specific keyword phrases (buy surety bonds).

I learned some important things to keep in mind when choosing keywords.

First of all there are two tools (both free) that are enough to discover if your product or service is worth selling.

overture.com has two tools
1)Overture keyword suggestion
2)Max bids tool

First make use tool one and the results of your keyword must have between 30K-100K to be a good niche with plenty of demand.

Second tool will give you an idea about your competitors. You use it to determine if others are making money from your niche.

When you search for keywords it is not always enough to determine if your niche is a good one.

Some other places where I usually get ideas about new niches, or new keywords are:

Dictionary.com
