Description
The adwords program allows advertisers to place ads next to search engine results from Google. The ordering of the paid listings depends on other advertisers' bids and the historical click-through rates of all ads shown for a given search.
Adwords advertisers also have the option of enabling their ads to show on Google's partner networks such as the search network and the content network. The search network shows result on AOL search, Ask.com, and Netscape. The "content network" shows AdWords ads on sites that are not search engines.
Cost Model
Advertisers bid against others in an auction-style marketplace based on a cost per click (CPC) model. Google also offers site targeting through their content network on a cost per thousand model (CPM). Advertisers can set the bid and the budget. |

Google Adwords - Highly Recommended |

My experience with Google adwords has been top notch! Google leaves no question that they lead the search industry. Google technology is robust, their support people are knowledgeable and the return on investment is hard to beat.
I love the fact that I can create ads and see my ads within half an hour. No strict, time consuming editorial review. This makes managing the campaign much easier.
While the Google search network is a key component of my campaigns, I have also found the content network to be pretty good. The content network allows advertisers to place ads throughout a network of websites that are not Google properties (this is managed through the Adsense program). Be careful though, you should always watch your quality metrics.
My favorite feature that Google offers advertisers is the ability to test different text ads. With this feature I can create several different ads and then see which message performs the best. Usually, the learning acquired in the Adwords tool can be replicated and transferred to other media partners.
Another feature that you won?t find anywhere but Google Adwords is the ability to make mass edits to cpc?s (cost per click), ad text and url?s. These tools have saved me a lot of time. However, tools like this are usually only useful to advertisers with large amounts of ads, keywords, or campaigns.
There are few drawbacks to using Adwords. First, I have found that Google can only provide limited exposure in certain industries. Vertical search engines or directories usually work a lot better for very nitch or targeted industries (like industrial sourcing for example). Google?s ranking system can also be frustrating. If you have ads that are not performing well (according to Google) you will be required to pay more or be priced out of the market. I have found that if you pay more up front to get a higher spot that will in turn increase your click through rate. Once your click through rate is high, you can start dialing back the cost per click. The whole process is time consuming and can be frustrating.
Overall, I would highly recommend Google to anyone looking to generate quality traffic. |

Like most all of Google's services, adwords is top of the line. You couldn't hardly ask for a better ad program, especially with the huge amount of sites using the program. You're garunteed a large amount of traffic, and if your into making money, there's a fair a amount of that to be found through adwords as well. There's simply nothing I can say against Google adwords.

You can now market your website at low cost.
Google adwords allow advertisers to display their ads in the top right side of their search results.
You pay per click on your ad. Although this is a great opportunity to get targeted traffic you should learn well how to use it before spending any money.
I got great results from GOOGLE Adwords program but only after learning techniques to avoid wasting money. |

A boon for small internet businesses |

I have never ceased to be amazed by the response I get from Google Adwords for the products that I am selling on the Internet.
For a small business owner like me it is indeed a boon. I have been able to effectively showcase my products to an extremely targeted market spread across the globe at a very affordable cost.
The ROI makes it all the more interesting. Spending $1 on an average on Adwords brings me around 7-12 interested visitors and the conversions are high because of the traffic being highly targeted.
This, indeed, is the key to success with Google Adwords. The art of learning how to target your traffic well and the correct selection of the keywords/phrases you bid on.
My experience shows that if you select too generic keywords, you end up paying top dollars for not so serious traffic with low rate of conversions. It pays off to spend some quality time in researching what people are actually searching for in your business domain, the keywords/phrases that buyers are using and guaging how serious a visitor could be by his selection of search keywords and phrases.
It requires you to step into the searcher's shoes and try to understand what phrases would an interested buyer is most likely to use?
For example, my research shows that people searching for "web hosting" are less likely to actually buy compared to those who search for phrases like "affordable web hosting", "cheap web hosting", "web hosting plans", "compare web hosting providers".
The phrase "web hosting" is too generic and spending your money on the same will be foolhardy. If it is quality web hosting you provide and that too at very affordable prices, your best bet are the two phrases - "affordable web hosting" and "cheap web hosting".
Even after the selection of keywords, you need to be extremely careful with the design of your "Ad" and the copy of the landing page. I have found the help of professional copywriters extremely useful here.
Also to be considered is the maximum amount you are willing to part with for one click on your ad, i.e., one prospective customer. You have to be extremely prudent with your ad spend and keep a close watch on the ROI.
My recommendation is to take it easy in the initial phase, bid on 2-3 keywords/phrases and keep the bid to the lowest and study the response. Keep changing the ads and the landing page copy after every few days and study the response. Once you know what ads and copy bring you the best results, you should emphatically go all out on it. Increase your ad spend and bid amount and keep tracking the results.
I hope that my tips are useful to fellow internet marketers. I'd be glad if others would also share their experience and some tips! |

Google Adwords is a great program that is very flexible and very user-friendly. I used to be scared about using it with all the news about fraud-clicks, but now Adwords has a great tool that displays fraud-clicks of a user. This helps me and my clients find the right advertisers and we often end up with quality traffic (that then converts into sales!).
Google helps out us advertisers 24/7, if they find a publisher that has been getting fraud-clicks, they would not charge you for the clicks. Another great plus is that they are nearly always available via email for any of your problems.
Not everyone benefits from Adwords, I used Adwords a few times for ClickBank affiliates and I hardly made any sales (compared to the amount of money I used). So it pays to do some research which helps greatly.
Adwords is a great program developed by Google which is used by small businesses (and even a few large businesses!) to drive sales. I love this program and I highly recommend it. |

TIP to lower your CPC on Adwords |

Hi Guys,
How many of us know that Google visits and "rates" our landing pages being promoted by its Adwords program? Yes, it's true and if used effectively, this knowledge can help reduce overall CPC for your ads.
The AdWords system retrieves advertiser landing pages to help it better assess the relevance and quality of our ads.
As per the Google Adwords TOS, the quality information collected about our landing pages affects your account performance in the future.
The fact is that the Adwords system gives a higher rating to Landing pages with useful, informative content related to the keywords and ad text used in our Adwords ads.
As per FAQs listed on Google Adwords, this may mean lower minimum cost-per-click bids (CPC bids) for your ads.
I have seen this work for my ads. Earlier I used to have my landing pages done in Flash to impress the people who clicked on my ads with little regard to the user-friendliness or accessibility of my landing pages. The result was high CPC. After getting in touch with Google Adwords support on the issue, I was directed to one of teh pages in their FAQs section, which dealt with this issue.
I realised my mistake and corrected my pages. Since then, I have had much lower CPC and higher conversions on my Ads.
So, for serious advertisers the best bet is to ensure that their landing pages are search engine friendly and high on accessibility. Keywords placement and density on landing lage and the outbound links to in-site and off-site destinations might also be taken into account by the adwords system.
Hope my experience helps other advertisers as well.
Let me have your comments, please |
